Margot Homan
Margot Homan is a renowned Dutch sculptor celebrated for her figurative works that bridge classical traditions and contemporary aesthetics. Born in Oss in 1956, she pursued her artistic education at the Tilburg Academy of Fine Arts. Driven by a passion for mastering the human form, Homan independently studied anatomy, as such training was not part of the academy's curriculum at the time. This dedication to understanding the human body laid the foundation for her artistic career.
After completing her studies, Homan initially worked as a part-time teacher at the Markendaal College of Social Studies in Breda but soon shifted her focus entirely to sculpture. Since 1984, her works have been featured in prominent national and international exhibitions and fairs, including TEFAF Maastricht, PAN Amsterdam, and the Tokyo Art Fair.
Homan works between her studios in Tilburg, Netherlands, and Pietrasanta, Italy. In Pietrasanta, she sources marble for her sculptures and collaborates with local artisans to produce her bronze works, benefiting from the region’s deep-rooted tradition in fine arts. Her sculptures are distinguished by their harmonious forms and emotional depth, reflecting a profound exploration of human balance and introspection.
An accomplished artist, Homan has been a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors since 2011. Her public art installations are highly celebrated, including a monumental seven-ton marble piece in Tilburg. Through her mastery of form and material, Margot Homan continues to captivate audiences worldwide, merging timeless beauty with a contemporary edge.
