Flavia Robalo

Flavia Robalo, born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1973, is a distinguished sculptor and painter who has made significant contributions to contemporary art. Her artistic journey commenced in 1984 with formal training in painting and sculpture. In 1991, she honed her marble sculpting skills under the mentorship of sculptor Orio Dal Porto. Seeking to further her craft, Robalo relocated to Pietrasanta, Italy, in 1997, a move that marked the beginning of her international recognition.

Robalo's oeuvre is characterized by a profound exploration of human emotions and the subconscious, often materialized through delicate wooden sculptures. Her works are noted for their ethereal quality, capturing the fluidity of dreams and the intricacies of the human psyche. She describes art as "an eternal discovery of myself and also a vehicle to discover out of myself: it's simply a way of speaking."

Throughout her career, Robalo has participated in numerous exhibitions across Europe and South America, earning accolades for her unique artistic vision. Her recent exhibition, titled "Ricorda di essere natura. Ritorno alle radici" ("Remember to be nature. Return to the roots"), was inaugurated on November 22, 2024, at the ARTE BVLG space in Pietrasanta, Italy. This exhibition, running until January 6, 2025, showcases her collaboration with fellow artist Veronica Fonzo, offering an in-depth look into their works that delve into the connection between humanity and nature.

Robalo's artistic philosophy emphasizes the courage to abandon societal masks and delve into the infinite universes within dreams and secrets, encouraging introspection and self-discovery. Her creations, often carved from wood, alabaster, and bronze, embody a poetic intimacy that resonates deeply with audiences, inviting them to explore the delicate balance between reality and the subconscious.
